How to Pack Fragile Items Like a Pro

Packing fragile items can feel like defusing a bomb—one wrong move, and it’s shattered. Whether you're moving glassware, ceramics, or electronics, protecting these delicate pieces is crucial. Here’s how to pack fragile items like a pro and keep your valuables safe during your move.

1. Start with Quality Materials

Don’t cut corners on packing supplies. You’ll need:

  • Sturdy, double-walled boxes

  • Bubble wrap and packing paper

  • Packing tape and labels

  • Foam sheets or peanuts for extra padding

Investing in the right materials can mean the difference between “safe” and “sorry.”

2. Wrap Items Individually

Each fragile item should be wrapped separately. Use bubble wrap for breakables like glasses and dishes, and add packing paper inside hollow items to prevent collapse. Tape the wrapping securely so it stays put.

3. Cushion the Box Properly

Line the bottom of your box with crumpled paper or foam. As you place items inside, ensure there’s no wiggle room—every inch should be cushioned and snug. Add another layer of padding on top before sealing.

4. Label and Stack Smart

Clearly label the box as “Fragile” on all sides. Don’t stack heavy items on top of it. If you're loading the truck yourself, place fragile boxes on top of sturdier ones and near the front where there's less shifting.
